COMMUNITY FORUM ON TEEN DEPRESSION SCHEDULED FOR MARCH 12

San Mateo, CA--Studies have shown that up to 2.5 percent of children and up to 8.3 percent of adolescents in the U.S. suffer from depression. Sadly, many children and adolescents do not get the help they need because of the stigma related to mental illness. The San Mateo County Mental Health Board is sponsoring a community forum to address the issue of teen depression on Wednesday, March 12 from 7-9 p.m. in the Mills High School Auditorium at 400 Murchison Drive in Millbrae.

Teens who have been touched by depression and their parents will share personal success stories, and a child psychiatrist will discuss treatment options. Representatives from community agencies will provide information about adolescent services. Concerned parents, teachers and teens are encouraged to attend. For more information, call Mary Nunnery at (650) 573-2544.
