October 18, 2003 As of today, eight residents have tested positive for E. coli 0157. No employees have tested positive for the bacteria. Twenty additional residents and fourteen employees have been identified with gastrointestinal disturbance. Six of the nine residents hospitalized have been released and returned home to The Sequoias. There were no hospitalizations yesterday. Confirmed Cases of E. Coli 0157 8 Residents Unconfirmed Cases 20 Residents 14 Employees 42 Total residents and employees being monitored by County Health Department Scrupulous hand washing with soap and water remains our most powerful defense in preventing the transmission of disease.
